DESCRIPTION:On Saturday\, October 27th from 10am-6pm and Sunday\, October 28th from 10am-4pm experience the Revolution Along the Raritan as Crown and Continental forces take over East Jersey Old Town Village. There will be American and British camps where you can see how soldiers and civilian camp followers lived. Witness a tactical weapons demonstration to see the strategies and arms of the Revolutionary War firsthand. \nSee colonial activities such as blacksmithing\, open pit cooking\, stone carving\, spinning\, and more. Listen to colonial era music. Watch the `People of the Brigade’ fashion show and learn about colonial attire. Children will enjoy wooden musket drills and other activities. The literary lion narrates his tale and then enters his story\, becoming his alter ego\, Ichabod Crane. This portion of the program is funded by the New Jersey Council for the Humanities. \nFrom 6pm-9pm stop in the children’s craft tent to create a seasonal keepsake. \nParking and admission are free for both events. \nFree shuttles provided to transport visitors between East Jersey Old Town Village and the Cornelius Low. \nText CULTURE to 56512 for a complete schedule of events and for more information about these and other programs.

SUMMARY:Temple Sholom's Annual Chanukah Lego Night
DESCRIPTION:Temple Sholom of Scotch Plains today announced that it will host its annual Chanukah Lego Night on Thursday\, December 6 from 6 pm to 7:30 pm at Temple Sholom. Back by popular demand\, the event is free and open to the public. \nParticipants are welcome to build as many Lego creations as their hearts desire\, while reveling in dreidel games\, enjoying Chanukah music\, and indulging in donuts\, latkes (potato pancakes) and plenty of chocolate gelt. There also will be raffles for a Lego-style menorah and a Lego-style dreidel. \nIn Hebrew\, the word “Chanukah” means “dedication.” The name reminds us that this holiday commemorates the re-dedication of the holy Temple in Jerusalem following the Jewish victory over the Syrian-Greeks who tried to destroy the Jewish population in 165 B.C.E. Also known as the Festival of Lights\, the eight-day festival celebrates the triumph of light over darkness. \nWHO: The event is free and open to all. Space is limited. If you are interested in attending please RSVP by December 2 at www.sholomnj.org\, e-mail sholom@sholomnj.org or call\n908-889-4900‎. \nWHAT: Temple Sholom’s annual Chanukah Lego Night showcases one of the largest collections of Legos in Scotch Plains! Play\, sing\, light the menorah\, enjoy delicious holiday treats! \nWHEN: Thursday\, December 6\, 2018\n6 pm – 7:30 pm \nWHERE: Temple Sholom \n  \n\nAbout Temple Sholom\nFounded in 1913\, Temple Sholom is a Reform Jewish congregation led by Rabbi Joel N. Abraham and Cantor Darcie Sharlein. The Temple and its religious school are home to about 250 families from the greater Scotch Plains-Fanwood area. The congregation is located at 1925 Lake Avenue in Scotch Plains. Temple Sholom is a member of the Union for Reform Judaism. It has recently become the first synagogue in Union County\, NJ\, to offer a voluntary membership contribution model. For more information about the temple or joining the congregation\, please call\n908-889-4900\, e-mail sholom@sholomnj.org or visit www.sholomnj.org.
