Alyssa Reiner is JFSCNJ’s new director of social work
Dr. Alyssa Reiner, DSW, MPA, MSW, LCSW, RYT-200, has been named the Jewish Family Service of Central New Jersey’s director of social work and programming.
Dr. Reiner has been part of the JFSCNJ community for many years, providing clinical social work services and developing programs addressing the needs of older adults, caregivers, Holocaust survivors, families, and other members of the community.
In her new role, Dr. Reiner will help guide JFSCNJ’s social work services and programming while continuing to develop innovative approaches to supporting clients across the lifespan.
“I am honored to step into this role at an organization that has such a deep history of caring for individuals and families in our community,” Dr. Reiner said. “Social work is ultimately about connection — helping people feel supported, understood, and empowered during times of challenge and transition. I look forward to building on the incredible work already being done at Jewish Family Service and expanding opportunities for people to access meaningful, compassionate support.”
Dr. Reiner’s professional interests include the intersection of trauma, aging, nervous system regulation, mindfulness, and yoga. Her doctoral research explored the intersection of geriatric trauma and polyvagal theory in children of Holocaust survivors. She is also a certified yoga instructor and incorporates mindfulness-based practices into her clinical and educational work.
Dr. Reiner’s upcoming virtual program, “Finding Your Calm: Yoga, Mindfulness, and the Anxious Nervous System,” presented through the Orthodox Union’s SPIRIT program, is set for Tuesday, October 20, at noon.
The program is open to participants online, and registration is available through the Orthodox Union. It will be live on Zoom; a recording will be available after the program is over.
