Chabad dinner celebrates community, legacy, and growth
Chabad of West Orange’s annual dinner on July 8 celebrated gratitude, unity, and vision for the future. A highlight was the announcement of a new expansion project that will feature a dedicated youth wing to accommodate the rapidly growing children’s programming, a new, larger library, and a much-needed kitchen renovation.
Baruch and Dalia Shliechkorn were honored for their support with a tribute delivered by their daughter, Meirav, who spoke on their behalf. As children of Holocaust survivors, Baruch and Dalia were raised with a strong Jewish identity and deep connection to Israel. Meirav said that her parents receive immense pride and joy from supporting their cherished community and passing on their love of Judaism to their children and grandchildren.
Dinner honoree Philip Levitan paid tribute to his wife, Shirley, z”l. Together they were instrumental in supporting and contributing to the growth of Chabad of West Orange for many years. Rabbi Mendy Herson offered a reflection on the legacy of his late parents, Rabbi Moshe and Pearl Herson, who were the head shluchim in West Orange for more than 50 years. Michael and Efrat Weisblatt were honored with the Chesed award in recognition of their efforts and dedication.
