Dorothy Auslander

Dorothy Auslander (Melamed), 92, of West Palm Beach, Fla., died June 30, 2020. She was born in the Bronx and later moved to Queens; Plainview, N.Y.; Englewood Cliffs; and Lauderdale-by-the-Sea, Fla., before relocating in recent years to West Palm Beach.

Mrs. Auslander had worked at an import-export company in Manhattan.

She graduated from Queens College.

She became fluent in three languages, French, Spanish, and Portuguese, and later became conversant in Italian.

She enjoyed knitting, travelling, and beading.

She is survived by her husband of 70 years, Joseph; two daughters, Elaine (Leon) Pollack and Roberta (Warren) Schneider of Morristown; her son, Charles (Zara Gerber); a brother, Robert Melamed; five grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

A small graveside funeral was held July 3 with arrangements by Bernheim-Apter-Kreitzman Suburban Funeral Chapel, Livingston.
