El Al inaugurates largest, most advanced kosher inflight catering facility
A new inflight catering facility operated by TAMAM (Taasiyot Mazon Matosim), a member of the El Al Group, was recently inaugurated at Ben Gurion Airport. The facility, among the most advanced in the world, is the largest of its kind in the field of kosher inflight catering.
Replacing an establishment that operated for several decades, the new facility was opened with an investment of hundreds of millions of shekels, and more than meets global standards. It spans approximately 14,000 square meters, nearly twice the size of the previous facility, and offers a daily production capacity of approximately 50,000 meals, compared to around 30,000 at the former facility.
The site houses innovative technological systems that enable precise management of preparation processes, stringent quality control, and maintenance of a high culinary standard.
The opening of the TAMAM facility is part of El Al’s ongoing investment in infrastructure and enhancement of the customer experience. The new site enables both companies to expand their activities and adapt to evolving demands. The transition to full operation will take place gradually over the coming months and is expected to increase the range and improve the quality of meals served on El Al flights.
TAMAM CEO Oz Radomsky said the new site “is one of the most advanced in the world, combining cutting-edge production technologies with the expertise of our people. The facility will allow us to increase operational volumes, improve efficiency, and continue providing our customers with a product of the highest quality.”
The investment in expansion and improvement, said El Al CEO Levy Halevy, is made “with the understanding that every component of the customer journey is part of the overall experience. TAMAM’s new facility enables us to raise the culinary standard for El Al passengers, expand our operational capabilities, and support El Al’s growth for years to come.”
Kenny Rozenberg, controlling shareholder of El Al, said the move represents “a meaningful moment for us, as an Israeli company, and for those who believe in El Al’s ability to continue leading the industry. This investment reflects deep confidence in the company and its people. The new facility will enable the provision of kosher food of the highest standard to the international market as well.”
