Panelists: David Spergel and Rabbi Adam Feldman

We are pleased to present a series of panel discussions between clergy and noted scientists about topics of contemporary importance. For this panel, Rabbi Feldman will share the program with respected astrophysicist and TJC member David Spergel. They will discuss and contrast the Biblical stories of Creation with modern scientific findings in cosmology.

David Spergel is the Charles Young Professor of Astronomy at Princeton and the Director of the Center for Computational Astrophysics in NY. He is the author of over 300 published scientific papers. His paper establishing the standard model of cosmology is among the most cited papers in astrophysics. He has been awarded the MacArthur (“Genius”) Award, the Shaw Prize, and the Breakthrough Prize. He is a member of the National Academy of Sciences and the American Academy of Arts and Sciences.

Rabbi Adam Feldman has been at TJC since 2005 and has been very involved in many lifelong learning opportunities by creating educational programs for adults, teens, children and families and teaching Adult Learning Programs. He has helped us receive national awards for synagogue programming and attract recognized Jewish thinkers for Shabbat and Adult Learning programs. Working closely with lay and professional leaders, he creates inspiring Shabbat and Holiday services and programs. Rabbi Feldman feels very strongly about welcoming all members, including interfaith families in our community. He is active in many community institutions including the Princeton Clergy Association, the Department of Religious Ministries at Princeton Hospital, Trinity Counseling Services and as a Chaplain for the Princeton Police Department.

This program is part of Scientists in Synagogues, run by Sinai and Synapses in consultation with the AAAS Dialogue on Science, Ethics and Religion, and primarily.

The program is open to the community. FREE for members, $10 for community members. For more information please contact the TJC office at (609) 921-0100 ext. 200 or info@thejewishcenter.org.
