Filmmaker tribute

Jewish Heritage Museum of Monmouth County, Freehold, will present a Three-Film Screening Tribute to Aviva Kempner: Writer, Producer, Director, beginning with “Rosenwald” today at 2 p.m. (inclement weather date Feb. 2).

“Rosenwald” is a documentary that tells the story of Julius Rosenwald, a Jewish philanthropist who joined forces with African American communities during the Jim Crow South to build 5,300 schools.

The tribute will continue with “Yoo-Hoo, Mrs. Goldberg” on Sunday, Feb. 23, at 2 p.m. (inclement weather date March 1); and “The Life and Times of Hank Greenberg” on Sunday, March 8, at 2 p.m. (inclement weather date March 15).

This film is sponsored in part by Gary Matoren, in memory of his daughter, Debbie Lynn Matoren, and in honor of the museum and the Jewish community in Monmouth County.
