Lyricist’s life and legacy

$6 – $25A two-part program on legendary Broadway lyricist Oscar Hammerstein II will be presented on Tuesday, Dec. 10, at the JCC of Middlesex County in Edison.
Part I, “His Life and Legacy — Broadway to Buck’s County,” 10:30 a.m., will be presented by his grandson, Will Hammerstein, who will cover his grandfather’s birth into a theater family, the major influences of his career, and his life on Highland Farm in Pennsylvania, where his partnership with Richard Rodgers was formed and where he mentored a teenage Stephen Sondheim.
Part II: “A Performance of his Music,” at 1 p.m., will be presented by lyric soprano Erin Alcorn and pianist and vocalist Marc Sherman.
Part I only or Part II only costs $9, $6 for JCC members; Parts I and II (with brown-bag lunch) costs $25, $18 for members. No full-day registration after Dec. 3. Call Diane Mael, director of adult services, at 732-494-3232, ext. 3619.
