Mosaic and Mikvah: Synagogues in Ancient Israel Before and After the Destruction of the Second Temple

Brown bag dairy lunch. Coffee and pastries will be served. Join us for a visual tour of archaeological finds in Israel that shed new light on Jewish religious practices while the Second Temple still stood and after its destruction. This program will be presented by Beverly Rubman and Roslyn Vanderbilt.

Beverly Rubman (JD, MA -Jewish Studies) is a Chaplain in the Secure@Home program at JFCS and has been teaching Adult Education courses at Adath Israel Congregation for the past 15 years.

Roslyn Vanderbilt, retired Reading Specialist and former Children’s Librarian at The Jewish Center, visited Israel in 2016 as part of a Biblical Archaeology study tour. During the trip, she became fascinated by the mosaic floors in several of the ancient synagogues they visited. Since then, she has enjoyed giving informal presentations about these mosaics at Jewish Adult Education settings in the area.
