The December Money Dilemma: Coveting vs. Contentment Explored at TBA Rosh Hodesh

December 10, 2019 , 7:30 pm

Free

Temple B’nai Abraham’s Sisterhood—The Women’s Connection Rosh Hodesh program, led by Rabbi Faith Joy Dantowitz, will focus on the topic, “The December Money Dilemma…Coveting vs. Contentment,” with guest speaker Rabbi Mary L. Zamore, editor and contributing author to The Sacred Exchange: Creating A Jewish Money Ethic (CCAR Press, 2019). Referring to the Rosh Hodesh topic to be discussed, Rabbi Zamore explains, ”The December holiday season is a challenge to our values and sometimes sanity, as the pressure of materialism creeps into our holiday. As women, we often lead our families, communities and even workplaces in celebrations. How do we keep our celebrations value centered?“ She continued, “On this Rosh Hodesh Kislev, we will explore Judaism’s teachings on coveting and contentment in order to infuse this Hanukkah with true celebration and connection. We will lift up Judaism’s teachings on gratitude, tzedakah, giving to others, and tikkun, making our communities better places.”
