The New American Judaism
March 5 , 7:30 pm - 9:30 pm
JTS’s Dr. Jack Wertheimer and other thought leaders will discuss issues arising from Wertheimer’s acclaimed new book, The New American Judaism, especially the range of initiatives found in and out of synagogues that are helping to revitalize Jewish religious life.
In The New American Judaism: How Jews Practice Their Religion Today, Wertheimer delves deeply into understanding how American Jewish observance has shifted in light of the massive social upheavals of the recent decades. He explores which observances still resonate and which have been given new meaning; the options available to Jewish seekers or those dissatisfied with conventional forms of Judaism; and the response of synagogues and other organizations.
