Writing Our Way Home led by Charlotte Friedman MFA MSc
October 23, 2018 , 7:30 pm
Free – $5Led by Charlotte Friedman MFA MSc (Barnard College English Dept.)
Jewish poetry has a beautiful history from the ancient Psalms to contemporary poets such as Yehuda Amichai and Alicia Ostriker. In the hour and a half, we’ll have together, we will read and study several poems by Jewish authors, delving into language, rhythm, and metaphors—exploring and expanding meaning. In the shadow of those texts, we’ll do some prompted writing. Sharing what we’ve written, listening to each other, and reflecting on what we hear, enables us to better understand the stories of others and our own.
No particular knowledge of poetry or writing experience is necessary to participate in the workshop.
Open to the community. TJC members – no fee; $5 for non-TJC members
