Harold S. Checkman

Harold S. Checkman, 89, of Coconut Creek, Fla., died July 19, 2011. Born in New York, he previously lived in Newark and Monroe Township.

Mr. Checkman was a partner at Megdal’s Bakery.

He served as a U.S. Marine.

He was involved with Meals on Wheels and veterans’ groups.

Predeceased by a son, Steven, he is survived by his wife, Lillian; his son, Kenneth; his daughter, Geraldine; a sister, Pat (Pearl) Harnette; a grandson; and a great-grandson.

Services were held July 22 at Beth Israel Cemetery, Woodbridge.
