Samuel Karpel

Samuel Karpel, 82, of Somerset died Dec. 2, 2019. He was born in Newark and also had resided in Hillside and Parsippany.

Mr. Karpel was a former president of Erste Bershader KUV, a member of the board of directors of the Lake Hiawatha Jewish Center, commodore of the South Orange Seaport Boat Club, and a member of the Model Boat Club of South Plainfield.

His passions included flying radio-controlled helicopters and sailing radio-controlled boats, and he was the conductor of his Lionel Train Set.

He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Lois (Gottfried); his son, Barry Karpel of New York City; his daughter, Beth Karpel Greenbaum of Flanders; his son-in-law, Alan Levy; and three grandchildren.

Services were held Dec. 5 with arrangements by Menorah Chapels at Millburn, Union.
