Young Jews from around the world, including locals, gather in Tzfat for Sukkot
As northern Israel begins to rebuild and renew, Livnot U’Lehibanot launched its Sukkot 2025 program. The sold-out program brought 30 young Jews from around the world to volunteer, explore, and connect with the people and land of Israel. Participants from the United States, Canada, England, the Netherlands, Switzerland, Iceland, and Australia, spent a week at Livnot’s campus in the heart of Tzfat’s Old City. They volunteered in the moshav of Avivim, near the Lebanese border, as part of ongoing efforts to rebuild northern communities. There were also workshops, hikes, and festive Shabbat and holiday celebrations in the sukkah overlooking Mount Meron.
Although Livnot U’Lehibanot’s educational programs resumed several months ago, this is the largest program since the outbreak of the war, and the first of its scale to take place during Sukkot.
“Especially now, as the people of Israel strive to return to normal life and strengthen border communities — while Jewish communities around the world face rising antisemitism — connecting with the Diaspora is more vital than ever,” the program’s educational director, Michael Yaffee, said. “This program builds a bridge of identity, giving, and unity between Israel and the Jewish world, reminding us that we are one people — in Israel and beyond.”
