A call for artists
Artists are sought for “Hope Out of the Darkness: An Artistic Interpretation,” a juried show that will be on exhibit at the Belskie Museum in Closter. It’s set to run from February 5 to 27 and the deadline for entries is January 18.
The curators, Sheryl Intrator Urman of Englewood and Fred Spinowitz of New Rochelle. N.Y., have been curating art shows together in New Jersey and New York for nearly 10 years.
Their shows have been exhibited at the Jewish Home at Rockleigh, schools, and with Sharsheret. Abigail H. Meyer of Manhattan, a Judaica art historian who works at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, will join Ms. Urman and Mr. Spinowitz as a curator for this exhibition.
Ms. Urman has been a member of Englewood’s Ahavath Torah for more than 35 years, and the artist-in-residence there for more than a decade. She was the artist chair for Partnership2gether for the Jewish Federation of Northern New Jersey for many years and is a past president of the Moriah School Parent Association. Mr. Spinowitz is a member of Young Israel of New Rochelle, a professor of art education at Lehman College, and a board member of the New Rochelle Art Association.
Artists over 18 are welcome to submit artwork; requirements are at TinYurl.com/YCSHMX83. For more information, email Ms. Urman at ArtForLearning@yahoo.com.
