A fine journalist

This letter is long overdue. It is a public recognition of a fine journalist — Elaine Durbach.

Elaine has written many articles over the years concerning activities at our synagogue. While we have always expressed our thanks to her privately, she deserves a public “thank you.”In the Aug. 9 edition of New Jersey Jewish News, Elaine wrote an article about Ariel Fixler, a former TBO/BT member who is fighting a rare form of adrenal cancer. The Chesed Committee held a dinner on Aug. 14 to raise funds for Ariel’s medical needs.

Elaine’s article was on point in writing a picture of Ariel as a vibrant young woman with an amazing source of a positive spirit.

The article did much to make our efforts on Ariel’s behalf a great success.

We are grateful to NJJN for the quality of its staff writers. Elaine Durbach is in good journalistic company.
