Ada Gross

Ada M. Gross, 97, of Elizabeth died April 13, 2012. Born and raised in Philadelphia, she resided in Elizabeth for over 55 years.

Mrs. Gross worked at the Bayonne Military Ocean Terminal as a civilian employee, and held various jobs during her working life before retiring. In her later years she took on a part-time position in the Literacy Program at the Elizabeth Public Library, continuing until she was 90.

She was a life member of National Council of Jewish Women and Congregation B’nai Israel in both Elizabeth and Millburn.

Predeceased by her husbands, Benjamin Polykoff, who was killed in action at the Battle of the Bulge during World War II, and William B. Gross, she is survived by her son, Stephen S. Gross, and a granddaughter.

Services were held April 16 with arrangements by Bernheim-Apter-Kreitzman Suburban Funeral Chapel, Livingston. Memorial contributions may be made to National Council of Jewish Women’s Union County Section.
