Adelaide Pykon

Adelaide (“Addye”) Pykon, 90, of Livingston died July 18, 2012. She previously lived in New York City, East Orange, and Rockaway.

Ms. Pykon was the second woman appointed to the Official Court Reporting Staff of the Superior Court of New Jersey by the late Chief Justice Joseph Weintraub in 1960. She held the position until her retirement 30 years later in 1991, at which time she continued with her own reporting firm, Pykon’s Reporting Services, until 1999.

She graduated from secondary school in Dover and from Eastern Secretarial School in Manhattan and The Hill School of Court Reporting in Newark.

She was a member of Temple Shalom in Succasunna as well as Temple Beth Shalom in Livingston. She was a life member of the National Council of Jewish Women.

She was predeceased by her brother, Francis H. Pykon, and her sister, Ruth Pykon Stern.

Services were held July 20 with arrangements by Menorah Chapels at Millburn, Union. Memorial contributions may be made to the Pykon Educational Foundation at Temple Beth Shalom.
