Alan M. Schwartz, 89, of Springfield died Nov. 29, 2019. Born in Brooklyn, he resided for a time in Newark before moving to Springfield.
Mr. Schwartz was employed as a cost accountant for the U.S. Army Audit Agency at Picatinny Arsenal in Morris County.
A graduate of South Side High School in Newark, he was the holder of a bachelor’s degree from Rutgers University.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army who served during the Korean War.
He was active in Temple Sha’arey Shalom, Springfield.
Predeceased by his wife, Gladys, he is survived by his brother, Edward Schwartz of Tinton Falls; his girlfriend, Ros Bernstein Charnes; and five nieces and nephews, Jane Lakritz, Syzanne Remmell, Andrew Schwartz, Eric Levin, and Rabbi Amy Levin.
Services were held Dec. 1 with arrangements by Menorah Chapels at Millburn, Union.
