Alice Mintz Saltman
Alice Mintz Saltman of Waltham, Mass., 101, died Sept. 2, 2010. She was born in Dover.
An artist, teacher, art therapist, and community activist throughout her life, Mrs. Saltman taught art at Weequahic High School, Newark, for more than 30 years.
She entered college at age 16 and was the first of three generations of family graduates of Douglass College at Rutgers University.
She was a lifelong member of the American Jewish Congress and active in the Newark Teachers Union. Predeceased by her husband of 66 years, Eli; she is survived by her son, David of Sunny Isles Beach, Fla.; two daughters, Melissa Meyer of Boston and Susanna Brooks of New York City; a brother, Sidney W. Mintz of Baltimore; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Services were held Sept. 5 with arrangements by Menorah Chapels at Millburn, Union.
