Andrea Malek
Andrea Rosenthal Malek of Colts Neck died Feb. 22, 2012. She was born and raised in Reading, Pa., and also had a residence in Boca Raton, Fla.
Dr. Malek taught special education in New York City and was the special education supervisor for the New York City schools. She was a professor of special education for City University of New York and most recently at Monmouth University, from where she retired a few years ago.
She received her undergraduate degree from Penn State University, her master’s degree from the University of Pittsburgh, and her doctorate from Fordham University as a psychologist.
She published several works in professional magazines and was an educator and presenter at international special education forums, including the Council for Exceptional Children.
She is survived by her husband, George; two sons, Jason of Ocean and Mark of Marlboro; her daughter, Michelle Glazer of Marlboro; her mother, Phyllis Rosenthal of Tinton Falls; a sister, Jan Greenspan of Ocean; a brother, Jay Rosenthal of Olney, Md.; and seven grandchildren.
Services were held Feb. 24 with arrangements by Woolley Funeral Home, Long Branch. Memorial contributions may be made to the Michael J.
