Ann Klayton
Ann Klayton (Peters), 97, of Deal Park died Nov. 22, 2013. She was born in Lehighton, Pa., and lived in the shore area for over 60 years.
Mrs. Klayton was very active in area community service organizations. In 1993, she was named Woman of the Year by the Deal chapter of Hadassah. In 1995, she received the Hadassah Service Award and Hadassah’s Love of a Lifetime Award in 1999, followed by Hadassah’s National Leadership Award in 2000. In 1994 she was named Woman of the Year for the Ladies’ Auxiliary of the Jewish War Veterans of the USA, Asbury Park-Ocean Post #125, an organization for which she was also a founding member. In 1996, she received a Certificate of Appreciation for Outstanding Service as a Medical Center Volunteer at Monmouth Medical Center, Long Branch. She was recognized as the Woman of the Year by the sisterhood at Temple Beth El, which also awarded her a Certificate of Honor for over 40 years of dedication to the temple.
Predeceased by her husband of 46 years, Marvin, in 1989, and a son, Rodney, in 2005, she is survived by her daughter, Joan of Middletown; her son Alan (Sherrie) of Colorado Springs, Colo.; two grandchildren; and a great-grandson.
Services were held Nov. 26 with arrangements by Bloomfield-Cooper Jewish Chapels, Ocean. Memorial contributions may be made to Jewish War Veterans, Post 125, Ocean Township; or Deal Hadassah Shore-Long Branch.
