Augusta Kagan

Augusta Kagan (Rosenberg), 94, of Monroe Township died Jan. 2, 2015. Born in Perth Amboy, she had resided in Savannah, Ga.; Nashville, Tenn.; Edison; and Monmouth Beach before moving to Monroe 20 years ago. 

During World War II, Mrs. Kagan worked in the Littman Family Meat Market and also was an active member at Congregation Beth Mordechai, Perth Amboy where she served as sisterhood president. At the age of 80, she wrote a cookbook, The Best of Ba, which chronicled her favorite dishes.

Predeceased by her husband, Samuel, in 2010, she is survived by two daughters, Barbara (Leonard) Littman of Highland Park and Susan (Philip) Blume of Los Angeles; her son, Richard (Julie) of Los Angeles; five grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. 

Service were held Jan. 4 with arrangements by Crabiel Parkwest Funeral Chapel, New Brunswick.
