The JCC MetroWest will host an in-person program featuring New York Times best-selling author and former Israeli ambassador to the United States, Michael Oren. It’s on Sunday, October 23, at 4 p.m. Mr. Oren will talk about his new book, “Swann’s War,” and will discuss domestic and world events from Uvalde to Ukraine. The program is free, but advance registration is strongly encouraged at jccmw.us/authors22-23.
Mr. Oren, who grew up in West Orange, is the winner of both the Los Angeles Times History Book of the Year and the National Jewish Book awards (both for “Six Days of War: June 1967” and The Making of the Modern Middle East”). He is also a celebrated historian and diplomat. With “Swann’s War” he returns to his first love, fiction, bringing his creativity, intelligence, imagination, historical perspective, and expertise to a unique crime novel. The historical mystery novel is set in World War II.
“We are filled with pride to welcome Michael Oren back to JCC MetroWest,” Katy Strulson, the JCC MetroWest’s director of community engagement and development,” said. “Michael and his family have been fixtures at our JCC and we are always thrilled to have this accomplished West Orange native back home. We can’t wait to see him once again in person, this is an event that is not to be missed!” Mr. Oren splits his time between Tel Aviv and Los Angeles.
