Bernard M. Altschuler
Dr. Bernard M. Altschuler, 89, of Maplewood and Palm Beach, Fla., died Sept. 11, 2010. He was a longtime resident of Bayonne.
Dr. Altschuler practiced obstetrics and gynecology in Bayonne for more than 35 years and served as chief of obstetrics and president of the Bayonne Hospital Medical Staff before retiring. He was a clinical faculty member of the College of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey.
A graduate of Tulane University and its medical school, he served as a naval lieutenant and physician during World War II and the Korean War.
He was for many years a trustee of Temple Emanuel of Bayonne.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Doris; three sons, Jeffrey, Mark, and Steven; a brother, Myron; and three grandchildren.
Services were held Sept. 13 with arrangements by Bernheim-Apter-Kreitzman Suburban Funeral Chapel, Livingston.
