Bessie Streisand
Bessie Streisand, 104, of Monroe Township died Nov. 28, 2018. She was born in Brooklyn and lived there and in Queens before moving to Monroe in 1987. Since 1979, she had lived in Coconut Creek, Fla., during the winters.
Mrs. Streisand was a bookkeeper in her early life and was mostly a homemaker while raising her children.
She was a graduate of Eastern District High School in Brooklyn.
She was a member of the Pythian Sisters and The Jewish Center of Torath Emeth in Kew Gardens Hills, Queens; Congregation Beit Shalom in Monroe Township; and Congregation Beth Shalom in Coconut Creek.
In her later years she was a volunteer aide at University Hospital in Tamarac, Fla., and St. Peter’s Hospital of New Brunswick’s Monroe Township branch.
Predeceased 25 years ago by her husband, Murray, she is survived by two sons, Ken (Judy) of East Brunswick and Warren (Isabel) of Boynton Beach, Fla.; her daughter, Fran Gurey (the late Steve) of Livingston; six grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
Services were held Dec. 2 with arrangements by Schwartz Bros.-Jeffer Memorial Chapel, Queens.
