Beyond belief
I beg to differ with Sylvia Scheininger’s letter (“Atheistic oxymoron,” July 28). Being Jewish is more than believing in God. It is a culture, a way of life. I have very good reasons for not believing in God. Many year’s ago I was a pediatric nurse and held two babies in my arms as they died from cancer. One was 18 months old and one was three years old. I don’t want excuses such as God’s will etc.
I believe in the Golden Rule and even the Ten Commandments. And I am very Jewish. I just don’t believe in God!
