JEWISH VOCATIONAL Service of MetroWest will offer “Interviewing 101: Acing the Subject They Don’t Teach in College,” an interactive boot camp for students looking to hone their job-seeking skills as they prepare to look for summer work and/or launch their careers. The four-hour session will be offered twice: Thursday, Dec. 26, and Wednesday, Jan. 8, 11 a.m.-3 p.m. at JVS offices in Livingston.
Presented by JVS’s professional career counselors, Dr. Meryl Kanner and Sharon Stern, the workshop will cover: writing resumes and cover letters, interviewing methods and skills, the art of body language, making a good first impression, and creating the “elevator pitch.”
The boot camp will include group discussions, the opportunity to role-play interview scenarios, and the chance to answer likely interview questions. Participants will practice skills and receive immediate feedback from Kanner, Stern, and others.
The cost to attend the boot camp, which is open to the public, is $250
for one four-hour session. Pizza, snacks, and drinks will be provided. Registration is required in advance; participants will be asked to complete a questionnaire and submit a resume and sample cover letter prior to the workshop.
