BRETTMAN-GOFMAN
Irene Gofman, daughter of Valentina Shekhter and Roman Gofman of Highland Park, Ill., and granddaughter of Eugenia Bogomolny, also of Highland Park, was married Nov. 8, 2014, to Ari Brettman, son of Cynthia and Lee Brettman of Sudbury, Mass., and grandson of Joyce and Ellis Hoch of Morristown.
Rabbi Bruce Elder performed the ceremony at the Hilton Orrington in Evanston, Ill.
The new Mrs. Brettman graduated from University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign with a degree in international relations and earned her master’s degree in speech language pathology from Massachusetts General Hospital Institute of Health Professions, Boston, where she received the Outstanding Student Leader Award. She is a bilingual speech language pathologist at the Hebrew Rehabilitation Hospital in Roslindale, Mass., where she recently completed a clinical fellowship.
Dr. Brettman graduated magna cum laude from Harvard College, Cambridge, Mass., with a degree in history and science and earned his medical degree from Duke University in Durham, NC, where he won a Sarnoff Cardiovascular Research Fellowship to study at Stanford University and was elected to the Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Honor Society. He subsequently completed a residency in internal medicine, a cardiology fellowship, and a post-doctoral research fellowship at Massachusetts General Hospital. While in his fellowship, Dr. Brettman received the MGH Cardiology Division Roman W. DeSanctis Clinical Scholar Award. He recently joined Clarus Ventures as an associate.
The couple resides in Boston.
