Carol Tauben

Carol Tauben (Ben-Zeev), 86, of West Caldwell died May 16, 2015. She grew up in Jerusalem and moved to New York City in 1939, later raising her family in Livingston. 

An artist with a multimedia portfolio, Mrs. Tauben taught art to children at the Newark Museum, YM-YWHA of Metropolitan NJ, and the “Y” summer camps. She designed and executed modern Torah covers and was a trustee at Temple Emanu-El of West Essex, Livingston. She coauthored and illustrated (with over 1,000 drawings) Integrating Arts and Crafts in the Jewish School, the result of her 25 years of art education experience. For the next 25 years she was president of Fieldwork East, a branch of Fieldwork, a marketing research service. 

She was offered art scholarships in Paris and at New York’s Parson’s School of Design, where she studied textile design. 

She is survived by her husband of 66 years, Reg; her daughter, Rolayn; her son, David; a brother, Saul; and four grandchildren. 

Services were held May 19 with arrangements by Gutterman and Musicant Jewish Funeral Directors, Hackensack.
