Chabad Center of Northwest NJ celebrates its 35th anniversary
The Chabad Center of Northwest NJ will celebrate its 35th anniversary with a gala dinner and entertainment on Monday, June 5, at the Crystal Plaza in Livingston. The program begins with a lavish buffet at 5:30 p.m., followed by a celebratory dinner and program at 6:45. The dinner’s theme, “Celebrating our 35th Anniversary of Bringing People Together,” reflects the Chabad Center’s mission from day one and the ongoing Year of Hakhel (gathering), which occurs once every seven years on the Jewish calendar.
Joel and Dr. Ronna Sherman of Atlantic Tomorrow’s Office and Summit Health, are the Couple of the Year. Ian Magid of Hank Lane Music & Productions is the Man of the Year and Debra-Ann Chait will receive the Community Service award.
Thirty-five years ago, the Chabad Center began with a small group making plans around a living-room table. It has grown into a full-scale community foundation with eight regional centers.
“The achievements we have been blessed with are a direct result of the selfless efforts of outstanding individuals who have made the growth of our educational, charitable and social programs an absolute priority in their lives, Chabad Center’s regional director, Rabbi Asher Herson, said. “We also know that the maximization of past accomplishments is only realized when we regularly take them to a higher level, as the verse says: ‘from strength to strength.’ We pray that the energy and message of our 35th-anniversary dinner will enhance the growth of our community programs to levels yet unseen.”
