Col. Marshall Rick

Col. Marshall Rick, 99, of Roseland died Feb. 17, 2013.

Col. Rick was drafted into the Army in 1941 and retired in 1962. His 21 years of service spanned assignments in Europe, Guam, Japan, Korea, and Pakistan. For heroism during World War II, he was awarded the Soldier’s Medal.

His other assignments included serving as the Comptroller of the United States Mission to Pakistan, where he worked with Pakistan’s Treasury Department, and as the Chief of the Retired Pay Davison at Fort Benjamin Harrison.

He graduated from the U.S. Army Infantry School in Fort Benning in 1941, from the Command and General Staff College in Fort Leavenworth in 1955, and from the Army Management School in Fort Belvoir in 1960. He also attended the Lewis College of Science and Technology (now Lewis University) and U.S. Armed Forces Institute.

After his Army service, he was hired as a vice president by Ragan Corporation, a NJ-based manufacturer of precision-making machines.

He is survived by his niece, Barbara of Short Hills; his nephew, Stuart of Rockville, Md.; two great-nephews and a great-niece; and a great-great-niece.

Services were held with full honors at Arlington National Cemetery on March 21.
