Conversation with Sheila Katz
The CEO of the National Council of Jewish Women, Sheila Katz, spoke with Rabbi David Vaisberg of Temple B’nai Abraham in Livingston last month, as part of TBA’s Sunday Afternoon with Speaker series. The Bloom family underwrites the shul’s series.
Ms. Katz spoke about putting Jewish values into the Jewish organizations that make up our communities, and putting those values into action, such as making sure janitorial staffs have a living wage. “What you put in your budget and what you don’t says a lot about your organization,” she said. She also spoke about the priorities of NCJW, including supporting the push for Congress to pass the ERA and paid family leave.
“It was a moving, meaningful conversation about the work we need to do for the women, children, and families in this country and in Israel, Rabbi Vaisberg said. “We have our work cut out for us.”
