David Manuel Shuwall
David Manuel Shuwall, 86, of Princeton died Nov. 23, 2010. He was born in and grew up in Philadelphia before moving to Washington, DC. He also lived in Atlantic City and Lighthouse Point, Fla., throughout the 1980s and early ‘90s.
Mr. Shuwall worked in the dress manufacture business. In the late 1950s he and his brother ran George Friends Bookstore in Washington. In the late ‘60s he and his brother bought one of the first Budget car rental franchises. They opened offices in Philadelphia and ran the business until selling it in the early ‘80s.
He was a World War II veteran who served in the Army. He survived a land mine explosion and spent several months in a full body cast.
He attended Temple and Drexel universities in Philadelphia.
He is survived by his wife, whom he married in 1952, Zelda (Weisfeld); his daughter, Melissa Cookman of West Windsor; two sons, Buz Teacher of New Hope, Pa., and Larry Teacher of Philadelphia; a brother, Martin Shuwall of Boca Raton; four grandchildren; and a great-grandson.
Services were held Nov. 26 at Orland’s Ewing Memorial Chapel, Ewing. Memorial contributions may be made to the National Kidney Foundation.
