David Markoff
David Aaron Markoff, 89, of Monroe Township died Feb. 27, 2013. Born in Providence, RI, he also had resided in Rahway and Elizabeth.
Prior to retiring in 2001, Mr. Markoff was a traffic manager for several machinery and plastic companies in the Union County area; such as W.S. Filter, Diamond International, and Ashland.
A U.S. Army veteran, he served during World War II. He was a rifleman with the 26th Infantry Division of the 104th Regiment. He saw action in France and Germany and received the Combat Infantry Badge and Bronze Star. He was a member of the 26th Division’s Veterans Association.
He was a member of the Jewish Congregation of Clearbrook in Monroe. He was a member of the Knights of Pythias and B’nai B’rith. He was a skilled trap shooter and an avid bowler with many industrial leagues and B’nai B’rith.
He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Leona Shulman Markoff; his daughter, Laurie I. Markoff of Linden; his son, Jeffrey A. of California; and a sister, Hilda Banks of Champagne, Ill.
Services were held March 1 with arrangements by Mount Sinai Memorial Chapels, East Brunswick. Memorial contributions may be made to the NJ Veteran’s Memorial Home (Menlo Park), 132 Evergreen Road, Edison, NJ 08837.
