Donald Leibowitz
Donald Leibowitz, 81, of Allentown died June 8, 2013. Born in Brooklyn, he resided in Lawrenceville and East Windsor before moving to Allentown nine years ago.
Mr. Leibowitz spent many years developing energy policy for the City of Trenton as president of TDEC of the Trigen Energy Corporation, and was energy coordinator with the New Jersey Department of Treasury. After retiring from TDEC in 2000, his passion for teaching led him back to the classroom at the College of New Jersey, where he taught as an adjunct professor from 2001 to 2008.
He graduated from the City College of New York with a degree in physics, followed by master’s degrees in physics and economics.
He is survived by his wife of 33 years, Karen Beck Leibowitz; four sons, Dan (Sandy) of Hamilton, Matthew of Brooklyn, Lawrence of Manhattan, and Jon (Tracy) Stewart of Manhattan; a sister, Ruth Portner of Virginia Beach, Va.; and five grandchildren.
Services were held June 9 with arrangements by Mount Sinai Memorial Chapels, East Brunswick. Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, 400 Morris Ave, Suite 251, Denville, NJ 07834.
