Dorothy Sacks
Dorothy E. Sacks (Ruchlin), 79, of Hillsborough died May 7, 2017. Born in Brooklyn, she also had resided in Hazlet for 30 years and in Aberdeen for 20 years.
Mrs. Sacks worked for a Philadelphia newspaper that was a subsidiary of Philadelphia News. She also had been a government census worker. She worked for many years as an office manager, including at Blackstone Lumber, East Brunswick.
She attended Brookdale Community College and was on its Dean’s List.
She was a longtime active member of Temple Beth Ahm in Aberdeen, including serving as a major fund raiser for the temple’s beautification and as a past sisterhood president. She was a member of Hadassah and B’nai B’rith. She volunteered for Meals on Wheels in Monmouth County. She was an avid tennis player in many leagues.
Predeceased by her husband, Ralph, in 1984, she is survived by three daughters, Carolyn (Joseph) Sansevere, Michelle Price, and Jackie (Martin) Kott; a sister, Claire Hirsch; seven grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.
Services were held May 10 with arrangements by Bloomfield-Cooper Jewish Chapels, Manalapan. Memorial contributions may be made to Temple Beth Ahm or The Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research.
