Dry humor
I want you to know how pleased I am that your paper carries the Dry Bones cartoons. It is among the first things I look for each week.
I first became acquainted with Mr. Kirschen’s cartoons when I was involved with a Jewish student paper on a college campus. I thought his work was both inspirational and quite effective in connecting with large numbers of students. While I enjoy the comic strip on some weeks more than on others, a criticism of the Feb. 25 strip that appeared recently seemed way off the mark: There is some current public debate as to whether those at war with the U.S. should be treated as enemy combatants or as civilian criminals, but one can take either side without necessarily supporting the practice called waterboarding.
