Edith Jaffe
Edith Jaffe (Dubovsky/Dubow), 100, of Lake Worth, Fla., died Oct. 27, 2014. She was formerly of South Orange and Palm Beach, Fla.
Mrs. Jaffe, a housewife, was recognized by the United Nations, where she volunteered and garnered an award for her staunch support of that institution. After World War II, she served as president of the Essex County branch of AMIT (Mizrachi Women’s Organization of America), the U.S. organization founded for the purpose of giving religious women an independent role in the development of a Jewish homeland.
She graduated from Newark’s Weequahic High School.
Predeceased by her husband, Nathan, in 1980, she is survived by her daughter, Susan (Michael) Wachter of Berwyn, Pa.; her son, Barry (Maxine) of Lake Worth; six grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
Services were held Oct. 31 with arrangements by Menorah Chapels at Millburn, Union. Memorial contributions may be made to Hadassah.
