Edmund Topilow

Edmund C. Topilow, 64, of Short Hills died Dec. 19, 2017.

Dr. Topilow, M.D., F.A.C.S., was in private clinical practice in ophthalmic surgery in Bayonne from 1982 until his death. He served as senior attending surgeon at the New York Eye and Ear Infirmary and as chief of ophthalmology at Bayonne Hospital.

He graduated Phi Beta Kappa from Lafayette College in 1974 and earned his M.D. in 1978 from Jefferson Medical College, Philadelphia. He interned at Beth Israel, New York City. He completed his ophthalmology residency at The New York Eye and Ear Infirmary. He was a fellow of both the American Academy of Ophthalmology and the American College of Surgeons.

He is survived by his wife, Betsy; two daughters, Brittany (Matt) and Alyssa (Adam), both of New York City; and his son, Jimmy of Washington, D.C.

Services were held Dec. 22 with arrangements by Menorah Chapels at Millburn, Union.
