Eleanor H. Brooks, 70, of Martinsville died July 16, 2013. Born in Jersey City, she lived her entire life in New Jersey, living in Manville, Somerville, Clark, and Springfield for 35 years before moving to Martinsville seven years ago.
Mrs. Brooks was a high school teacher and former social studies department head at Golda Och Academy, West Orange, where she worked for over 20 years.
She earned a BA in history and economics from the Simmons College for Women in Boston.
She is survived by her husband, Louis; two sons, David (Aimee) of Montclair and Jeffrey (Nicole) of Ft. Mill, SC; her daughter, Lindsey (Michael) Sag of Montclair; her mother, Ruth J. Halperin of Somerville; a brother, Edward C. Halperin; a sister, Harriet Naggar of Springfield; and seven grandchildren.
Services were held July 18 with arrangements by Ross’ Shalom Chapels, Springfield. Memorial contributions may be made to Tomorrow’s Children’s Fund, 30 Prospect Ave., Hackensack, NJ 07601.
