Eleanor Richmond
Eleanor Richmond, 97, of West Orange died Aug. 1, 2012. She also had lived in Elizabeth, Maplewood, Palm Beach, Fla., and Monroe Township.
Mrs. Richmond ran Richmond’s Army, Navy and Sportswear business in Elizabeth after the death of her husband Benjamin in 1956.
After her store was sold in 1964, she took many courses in interior design and worked as a decorator/salesperson at the Mart Furniture Gallery in Union for 19 years.
She was involved with Deborah Heart and Lung Hospital in Browns Mills and volunteered for many causes while living in Palm Beach.
She was an accomplished artist who exhibited her work at local art shows. Her last show was at Brighton Gardens Assisted Living, where she had resided for the past year.
She is survived by three sons, Harold of Woodbridge, Louis of Verona, and William of Towaco; her daughter, Dorothy Smelson of Westfield; nine grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.
Services were held Aug. 3 with arrangements by Menorah Chapels at Millburn. Memorial contributions may be made to Deborah Heart and Lung Center, 200 Trenton Rd., Browns Mills, NJ 08015.
