Ellin Cohen
Ellin Leslie Cohen (Diamond), 65, of Maplewood died Oct. 22, 2015. Born in Brooklyn, she lived in Maplewood for over 37 years.
Mrs. Cohen was a freelance publicist.
She earned a bachelor of science in public relations and communications from Boston University.
She was a member of Temple Beth Shalom in Livingston and previously Congregation Beth El in South Orange. At Beth El, she served as the English as a Second Language coordinator for Russian emigres. She was on the board of the Sister Rose Thering Fund for Education in Jewish/Christian Studies at Seton Hall University. She was also on the board of Jewish Family Service of MetroWest NJ, serving as chair of its Holocaust Services Advisory Committee and as a lay leader of the Cafe Europa program for Holocaust survivors.
She is survived by her husband of 43 years, Fred; her daughter, Erica (David) Rechtweg of Hewlett Harbor, NY; her son, Seth (Debra) of West Orange; her mother, Dorothy Diamond of Red Bank; a sister, Nancy Rubinstein of Red Bank; and four grandchildren.
Services were held Oct. 23 with arrangements by Bernheim-Apter-Kreitzman Suburban Funeral Chapel, Livingston.
Memorial contributions may be made to the JFS Ellin Cohen Memorial Endowment Fund at JFS MetroWest, Florham Park.
