Enemies of the West

The May 11 editorial, “Mockery at the UN” is both timely and an excellent synopsis of the subject. One wonders whether the actions of the power brokers should be classified as finely honed hypocrisy or common everyday double standards. How should one understand the selectivity in focusing on Gaddafi while ignoring the leaders of Iran and Syria?

After all, Gaddafi’s crimes are largely directed at some of his own people, while Ahmadinejad and Assad are clearly enemies of the West.

It is of equal interest to note that the United State, United Kingdom, and France — who have largely contributed to the ills of the modern day Middle East — are at the forefront of an obsessive drive to create yet another Arab state with the definite possibility of it being Muslim fundamentalist in structure and supportive of terrorism. In this, we would do well to recall the observation of Prof. Einstein, who said, “Insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results.”
