Enid Steir (Bratter) of Springfield died Jan. 30, 2020. Born in 1934, she grew up in Irvington and then Newark and was a longtime Springfield resident.
After being a stay-at-home mother, Mrs. Steir earned her associate’s degree from Union County College and her bachelor’s degree from Kean College, all with straight A’s.
Her career began as a legal secretary for a Newark firm. For many years she worked as a principal secretary for executives at various companies, a majority of them for CM Brown.
She became a bat mitzvah as an adult at Temple Beth Ahm Yisrael in Springfield.
An accomplished artist, she won a 2003 “First Place, Best of Show” in the annual Union County Senior Citizen Art Show.
She is survived by her husband of 60 years, Alan; her son, Robert of Florida; her daughter, Michelle (Orin) Tempkin of Springfield; a sister, Gloria Sheldon of Florida; and two granddaughters.
Services were held Feb. 2 with arrangements by Menorah Chapels at Millburn, Union.
