Ernest Prupis

Ernest Prupis, 82, of Norfolk, Va., died Oct. 22, 2013. He previously resided in Newark, Hillside, in Berkeley Heights for over 30 years, and in Seabrook Island, SC, for 20 years before moving to Norfolk four months ago.

Mr. Prupis was a partner in the law firm of Weltchek, Prupis & Ritz, formerly in Elizabeth.

He was the first president of the Berkeley Heights Community Pool, a member of the town’s Planning Board, a municipal judge, and a candidate for Town Council. In Seabrook Island, he was a member of the Property Owner’s Association and Planning Board.

He is survived by his wife, Sheila; two daughters, Allyne (Robert) Zorn of Manhattan, formerly of Westfield, and Karen (Wade) Irwin of Norfolk; a brother, Robert; four grandchildren; and a great-granddaughter.
