Estelle Finkel
Estelle Finkel of Lake Worth, Fla., formerly of Short Hills, died April 17, 2014, one day before her 92nd birthday.
Mrs. Finkel was a five-time U.S. Ballroom Latin & Rhythm Champion and recognized internationally in Smooth and Latin with her dance partner and best friend Herb Vazquez. For many years she was also an artist and sculptor.
Active in the Jewish community and a philanthropist, she was a past president of ORT and was an active member of Hadassah and National Council of Jewish Women. She and her husband donated a Torah to Temple Emeth in Delray Beach, Fla., in tribute to their family and were honored by the Jewish National Fund. She also was a patron of a children’s ballroom dance scholarship.
Predeceased by her husband of 62 years, Joseph, she is survived by three daughters, Arlene Carpel, Roz Ehrlich, and Mindy (Peter) Dudas; 15 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
Services were held April 20 with arrangements by Menorah Chapels at Millburn, Union. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice by the Sea, 1531 W. Palmetto Park Rd., Boca Raton, FL 33486.
