Frances Miller

Frances K. Miller (Kashefsky), 88, of Cranford died Jan. 14, 2018. Born in Newark, she also had resided in Elizabeth and Springfield.

Mrs. Miller taught at Abraham Lincoln School, Elizabeth, from 1949 to 1957, and then was a substitute teacher in the towns of Short Hills and Springfield. She then went on to be a field representative for the U.S. Census Bureau, New York City, for 30 years. 

She graduated from Weequahic High School, Newark, in 1946, and from Kean University in 1949. 

She was the past chapter president of the Springfield Jewish Women International, and served as JWI’s council president. She was also past president of Women’s American ORT. She was a life member of Springfield Hadassah and a member of the Women’s League at Temple Beth Ahm Yisrael and a board member of Hazak.

Predeceased by her husband, Paul, and a grandchild, Kerri, she is survived by two sons, Michael (Dori) of Rahway and Mark (Sharon) of Massachusetts; her daughter, Marla of Hillsborough; and three grandchildren. 

Services were held Jan. 16 with arrangements by Menorah Chapels at Millburn, Union.
