Gerson Goldman

Gerson M. “Jerry” Goldman of Elizabeth died Feb. 20, 2012. Born in Bayonne, he resided in Elizabeth for most of his life.

Mr. Goldman was the owner of Hudson Furniture Company in Elizabeth.

He graduated from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 1936. He was on the board of the Visiting Nurses Association, and was the former chairman of the Union County Parks and Recreation committees as well as the Union County Board of Consumer Affairs. He was the vice president of the Make-A-Wish Foundation and the Union County Senior Citizens Club.

He was the second vice chairman of the Union County Republican Party and a trustee at Temple B’nai Israel in Elizabeth-Millburn. After his retirement, he was a starter at the Oak Ridge Golf Course in Clark.

Predeceased by his wife, Grace, and his sons, Hilton P. and Ronald N., he is survived by his daughters-in-law, Harriet and Beverly Goldman; three grandchildren; and a great-granddaughter.

Services were held Feb. 21 with arrangements by Bernheim-Apter-Kreitzman Suburban Funeral Chapel, Livingston.
